Stevenson University is a private career-focused liberal arts college located in the Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan area. The Department of Mathematics and Physics is housed on the Owings Mills campus and offers a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Applied Mathematics. With approximately 3600 undergraduate and graduate students, Stevenson focuses on providing small class sizes (15:1 student to faculty ratio) and individual attention. 

This is a 9-month, full-time, campus-based, open rank faculty position in the Applied Mathematics program, School of the Sciences (SOS), with responsibilities for teaching, course development, student advising and mentoring, service to the school, department, and university, and continued scholarship in the field. Teaching responsibilities include 24-30 contact hours per academic year, commensurate with rank. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts; program assessment; and engagement in the life of the university. The Applied Mathematics faculty member fulfills all responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as defined in the Stevenson University Policies and the SOS Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Rank and title are determined at the time of hire and will be commensurate with education and experience. Full-time faculty in the School of the Sciences are expected to engage in research with undergraduate students and to pursue external funding in support of this research. 

Doctorate degree in mathematics, with preference given to applied mathematicians and statisticians, with at least two years college level teaching experience and a strong commitment to quality teaching and maintaining an active research program with undergraduates, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with a master’s degree in applied mathematics or mathematics will be considered for the rank of Lecturer.
