Georgia Southern University is passionate about serving our region while preparing our students to be lifelong scholars, leaders, and responsible stewards of their communities and the world.
Georgia Southern University provides faculty and student access to the Talon High Performance Computing (HPC) Research Cluster, with various software to process data and perform complex computations. Within this setting, the faculty hire would support the proposed MS program in Data Science as well as the undergraduate major.  The Department of Mathematical Sciences is working to modernize its curriculum, moving toward a career-oriented program designed to attract students interested in working in data science, machine learning, environmental or health analytics, or applied statistics, all of which are highly-paid occupations with increasing job opportunities.  We seek an expert to effectively support undergraduate and graduate students, teach required courses, actively participate in the Statistical Consulting Unit, and help to improve the proposed program.
