Two positions at Virginia Wesleyan University

Visiting Professor (any rank), Department of Mathematics Virginia Wesleyan University invites applicants for a full-time visiting professorship (any rank) in Mathematics for the academic year beginning August 2024. The position is a one-year leave replacement. Candidates should have an earned PhD, upper-level undergraduate teaching experience, and ability to foster the learning of students from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will teach 6 courses over the academic year at VWU, which operates on a 4-1-4 calendar. They should expect to teach upper-level courses in the major as well as calculus. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated experience in university-level teaching, although others may be considered.

Lecturer, Department of Computer Science Virginia Wesleyan University invites applicants for a full-time lecturer specializing in the instruction of computer science to begin in August 2024. Candidates should have an earned Master’s or Doctorate degree and college-level teaching experience and will have shown excellent teaching skills fostering student learning from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will have a teaching load of eight courses including two on-line, over the academic year. Part of the course load will include management and operation of the university’s cybersecurity lab. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field, and demonstrated experience in teaching computer science, although candidates with a M.S. in computer science or a closely related area with 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science will be considered. The salary is competitive and an attractive benefits package is offered.
