Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Denver invites
applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in mathematics to
begin in the fall of 2024. This is a non-tenure-track position that may be
renewed for a maximum of three years.
The successful candidate will be
expected to teach five undergraduate courses over three quarters of the
academic year (a 9-month period) and conduct high-quality research. Preference
will be given to applicants with research interests that overlap with those of
the permanent faculty members. Active areas of research include:
- Algebraic logic
- Combinatorics
- Ergodic theory
- Functional analysis
- Graph theory
- Group theory
- Non-associative algebra
- Noncommutative geometry
- Number theory
- Operator theory
- Probability
- Representation theory
- Statistical physics
- Topological dynamics
Experience in teaching college
mathematics and evidence of research ability and potential are also required. Candidates
must have completed a Ph.D. in mathematics before the start of the appointment
(September 1st 2024).
