Bryn Mawr College Department of Mathematics Assistant Professor

The Department of Mathematics at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2025. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics, but we will also consider candidates with doctoral degrees in other fields who have rigorous and broad training in statistics and experience applying statistics to real world data. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the start date. The successful candidate will show research potential and a serious commitment to teaching. The faculty member filling this position will develop and teach statistics courses at all levels, from introductory to intermediate and advanced level topics and will contribute to the College’s Data Science minor. We seek candidates who are interested in working with students on research projects involving real world data and who are excited to contribute to the department’s nationally recognized success in supporting women and students from underrepresented groups in mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to be a part of developing and teaching a diverse and inclusive curriculum, including interdisciplinary programs and other college-wide initiatives such as the 360 Program and the first-year Emily Balch Seminars.

To apply for this position, we ask that candidates submit a cover letter in which they include brief descriptions of courses at the intermediate or advanced level that they have experience teaching or have an ability and interest in developing. We also request that the cover letter explains experience with and/or interest in working with real world data. This cover letter together with curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, research statement, and statement of demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion to the Department of Mathematics Search Committee via Interfolio at: http://apply.interfolio.com/147347. In addition, candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted via Interfolio to the Department of Mathematics Search Committee. Applications received by October 1, 2024, will receive full consideration. Applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled.
