A postdoctoral fellow position is available at Brandeis University Department of Mathematics (https://www.brandeis.edu/mathematics/) to work with Dr. Yangyang Wang on computational neuroscience. Potential research projects for the candidate include analyzing and modeling impact of neuromodulators on neural networks, neural control of breathing and disorders such as opioid-induced respiratory depression, homeostasis, and multi-scale dynamics. Modeling projects will involve close collaborations with experimentalists and data analysis of neural recordings. The postdoctoral fellow will be able to participate in the vibrant academic life at Brandeis and in the Boston area. The successful applicant will join the Department of Mathematics at Brandeis University and have strong ties to Neuroscience Program (https://www.brandeis.edu/neuroscience/index.html), Volen National Center for Complex Systems and the Swartz Center for Theoretical Neuroscience. The position is for up to three years, with yearly reappointments contingent on funding and satisfactory progress. Postdocs are expected to participate in seminars and journal clubs, obtain mentoring experience, and apply for external awards during the first year. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, including computational neuroscience, physics or engineering, prior to the start of appointment. Competitive candidates should have a strong background in dynamical systems and computational neuroscience, and be familiar with computational programming.
