The Department of Mathematics at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for a senior level appointment as the Potter Professor of Mathematics, an endowed professorship, beginning in August 2025. We welcome applicants from all research areas in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics; candidates whose research programs align with areas of research currently present in the department are especially encouraged to apply. Current research areas include Geometry, Topology, Operator Algebras, Number Theory, Representations of Lie Groups, and Statistics. Candidates should have a well-established record of outstanding research and teaching and a commitment to seeking external funding. The Potter Professor is expected to play a leadership role in the department, the university, and the profession. The department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and service, to the excellence and diversity of the academic community.

Founded in 1873, TCU is a secular institution of approximately 12,000 students with a faculty devoted to excellence in research and teaching. TCU values diversity and inclusion in students, staff, and faculty; highly engaged and interdisciplinary learning; and community engagement. The Department of Mathematics is a small, collegial unit, currently with 20 full-time faculty members. The department serves approximately 125 majors in Math, Actuarial Science, and Data Science and has a small graduate program offering Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Mathematics. The university is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a vibrant metropolitan area of about 8 million people.

Candidates should apply through MathJobs (http://www.mathjobs.org/) and must also submit information through the TCU HR system. For the application on MathJobs, please submit a complete vita and a cover letter containing a statement of interest, including a brief overview of your research program. Upon request, candidates should be prepared to submit a list of references qualified to comment on their research and teaching. Candidates are strongly encouraged to describe in their application materials how they might support the university and department priorities described above. The posting in the TCU HR system can be found by going to TCU's hiring website. Here, candidates must fill out a brief application, which consists of contact information and the voluntary AA/EEO survey form, and upload their letter of application and their vita. This site also contains further information about TCU, the College of Science and Engineering, and Fort Worth. Applicants who have not submitted the required documents at both sites will not be considered.

Applicants who submit all materials by December 1, 2024, are guaranteed full consideration. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

As an AA/EEO employer, TCU recruits, hires, and promotes qualified persons in all job classifications without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, ethnic origin, disability, genetic information, covered veteran status, or any other basis protected by law.
