The Department of Mathematics of HKUST is seeking promising early-career researchers for attractive two-year postdoctoral positions in one of the following areas: geometric representation theory, algebraic geometry, and low-dimensional topology, broadly construed. The possibility of renewal for a third year is subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The appointee will work in the research group of Prof. Quoc Ho (https://quocho.com/), whose current research interests lie in the intersection of geometric representation theory, categorification, knot invariants/topological quantum field theory, and higher/∞-categories. The teaching load of the position is light, with at most one course each academic year. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree (by the start of the appointment), with a strong research track record in their respective areas of expertise. They should demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively. An excellent command of written and spoken English is required. Experience in teaching (in English) is a plus.
