The Research Training Group (RTG) in Dynamical Systems and Geometry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, funded by the NSF-DMS RTG program, seeks applicants for up to two 3-year postdoctoral positions. 


Successful applicants will work with a mentor from among the RTG faculty on research projects of mutual interest and will engage in professional development activities such as seminars, co-organizing conferences, supervising at least 2 undergraduate research projects through the Madison Experimental Mathematics Lab (MXM), and mentoring graduate students. Successful candidates will teach 5 courses over the three year period of the appointment.  Faculty in the group include Autumn Kent (PI), Paul Apisa, Tullia Dymarz, Marissa Loving, Caglar Uyanik, Chenxi Wu, and Andrew Zimmer.

 

Each position includes funding for the 9-month academic year, for up to three years, and two summer months for up to 2 years, depending on performance and subject to availability of funding. Applicants are expected to hold (by the start date of their appointment) a PhD in Mathematics or a related field and must be within two years of receiving their degree.  (Exceptions to the two-year limit may be possible in cases of significant career disruptions.)  Appointments are expected to commence August 18, 2025.  US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

 

Cover letters should address how the applicant will contribute to the research mission of the MXM program and identify one or more potential faculty mentors within the research group.
