 The Department is looking for an Assistant professor in Applied Mathematics with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

 

Responsibilities for this position 

·        Play an active role in coordinating and developing the teaching of first-year undergraduate mathematics courses.

·        Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, including first-year mathematics courses to large groups.

·        Supervise graduate students.

·        Develop a high-quality research program and pursue publication activities.

·        Apply for funding from major granting agencies.

·        Participate in the dissemination of knowledge and in the outreach of the University through conferences and scientific activities.

·        Contribute to the operation and development of the Department, the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Université de Montréal.

 

Requirements

 ·        Hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in another related field. Priority will be given to candidates with an expertise in Applied Mathematics.

·        A strong research and publication record.

·        Demonstrated ability or potential to work in the development of teaching first-year undergraduate courses in mathematics.

·        Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality university teaching at all levels, including first-year undergraduate courses in mathematics.

·        Interest and ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team with the department's teaching staff.

·        An adequate knowledge of the written and spoken French language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance with Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
