Brief introduction of J-BJIJinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute (J-BJI) at Jinan University is a ‘Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Institute’ approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2016. Currently, JNU-UoB offers four undergraduate programs: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science, Statistics with Economics, and Economics.
The four programs offered by the Joint Institute focus on integrating fundamental knowledge with application, aiming to cultivate mathematical and economic professionals in cross-disciplinarity and excellence in the fields of social science and natural science. The primary aim of these programs is to cultivate high-level talents who are equipped with solid mathematical skills, global vision, strong competitiveness in innovative capability, and foreign language proficiency. The four programs put different emphases respectively on applied mathematics, computing method and program design, statistics, and economics and finance.

Position Description
The J-BJI seeks candidates for Full Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor positions in Mathematics and Statistics. We invite applications from candidates specializing in:

- Probability and Mathematical Statistics
- Applied Statistics
- Operational Research and Cybernetics

Responsibilities
- Teaching: Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics using English as the medium of instruction, employing inclusive and innovative pedagogies.
- Research: Maintain an active research program, publish in top-tier or authoritative journals, and pursue external funding opportunities.
- Mentorship: Guide undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their academic and professional development. Service: Engage in departmental, institute, and university activities, including curriculum development and committee work.
- Equity and Inclusion: Promote equitable academic outcomes through culturally responsive teaching and mentorship. Required Qualifications
- PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
- Professional ethics and strong academic reputation.
- Experience working in renowned universities or research institutes, with an academic title of Associate Professor or above (for Associate/Full Professor).
- Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to student development. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in mathematics or related fields.
- Success in securing external research funding. Experience using active learning or culturally responsive pedagogy to support diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary approaches in mathematics, statistics, or economics.
