Position Description
Position: Assistant or
Associate Professor, dependent on qualifications. Tenure Track.
One or more positions.
Dates: Appointment
effective August 1, 2025.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics,
Mathematics Education, or a closely related mathematical field, completed by
August 1, 2025. Evidence of successful classroom
teaching experience, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse
student body, and the capability to maintain a program of scholarly activity
that includes research and publication are required.
Salary: Competitive,
dependent on qualifications.
Responsibilities: Teaching 12 hours each semester. Use of technology (such as graphing
calculators) in teaching is expected.
Additional responsibilities include university service, academic
advising, professional development, curriculum development, and maintaining a
program of scholarly activity that includes research and publication.
Locale: The University
of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee
System. The campus is located in
Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west
of Nashville. The University of
Tennessee at Martin has a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of
approximately 7,500 students. The
emphasis is solidly on excellence in teaching, research, and outreach. We seek candidates who demonstrate a similar
commitment.
Department: The Department of
Mathematics and Statistics has 20 faculty positions. A major is offered in mathematics with
concentrations in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and actuarial
science. Minors are offered in
mathematics and statistics. The
department operates a mathematics learning center that provides instruction in
several evening courses and tutoring in all freshman and sophomore level
