Position Description

The Temple University Department of Mathematics invites applications for one postdoctoral (non tenure track) position in applied mathematics, with the title Research Assistant Professor. The initial appointment, to begin July 1, 2025, will be for two academic years with a teaching load of one course per semester. Renewal to a third year is pending availability of external funds.

We are looking for candidates to participate in an interdisciplinary project studying combined microbial community and microbial metabolic models. The aim is to develop effective computational methods for computation of locally optimal metabolic responses in biofilms. The candidate is expected to collaborate with researchers at Temple University, UC San Diego, and Montana State university. Prior experience or interest in modeling of microbial communities including their physical and chemical properties is welcome but not required, as is previous experience with computational optimization. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment.
