Position Description
The Department of Mathematics of the Universidad de los Andes invites applications for two postdoctoral positions. Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics or a closely related area (statistics, operations research, etc.) awarded before the start of the appointment, and should exhibit clear research and teaching potential. Candidates in all areas of pure and applied mathematics that are aligned with current faculty research interests are encouraged to apply. Universidad de los Andes (https://uniandes.edu.co/en/university/about-us) is a private nonsectarian university located in the historic center of Bogotá, Colombia, and is consistently ranked among the top ten universities in Latin America. The Department of Mathematics offers programs of mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels up to PhD. These programs attract some of the strongest mathematics students in Colombia, and graduates in mathematics regularly continue their studies in PhD programs all over the world. The department has been successful in attracting international faculty members, and it offers a vibrant research environment with a variety of weekly seminars and often hosts international conferences. The starting date of the appointment is August 2025. Each position is for two years, potentially renewable for a third year. The teaching load will be three courses per academic year. Successful candidates who do not speak Spanish may teach their classes in English. To receive full consideration, complete applications must be received by December 8, 2024. A cover letter (the letter must contain the names of the writers of the recommendation letters as well as the names of one or more current faculty members who could serve as mentor.) 2. A curriculum vitae. 3. A research statement. 4. A teaching statement. 5.
