Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Notre Dame invites applications​ from those with outstanding records of, or demonstrated potential for, excellence in undergraduate instruction, to fill the position of Provost's Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow. Candidates in any research area compatible with the interests of the department will be considered​. The position comes with an expectation of teaching two courses per semester, and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will remain active in scholarship.

​The Provost’s Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow will have many professional development opportunities available to them. These include, but are not limited to: working with our highly motivated undergraduate majors on independent research, directing senior theses, and collaborating with teams of our strongest majors on our Summer Undergraduate Research Experience. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to engage with the University's Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence (https://learning.nd.edu/about/kaneb-center/). The Kaneb Center partners with instructors and students to promote the adoption of high-impact practices in teaching and learning, offering confidential consultations, interactive workshops, intensive academies, and customized programming in support of transformative, student-centered learning.

The position is initially for a term of two years starting August 15, 2025, with the possibility of renewal for a third year depending on availability of funding. The review of candidates will begin on December 15, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants are encouraged to submit their materials early.
