Description of Job This tenure track, nine-month position at the assistant professor level provides teaching, scholarship and advising/service to the mathematics program in the Department of Mathematics and Physics. Summer teaching may be available as a supplement. Primary Duties Teach baccalaureate majors’, service, and possibly master’s level courses in the mathematics program in accordance with program needs and as assigned. Hold at least five weekly office hours each semester. Mentor and advise students in special studies and projects. Participate actively in the program assessment, improvement and curriculum development activities of the Department. Conduct and engage in scholarly activity such as professional research, presentations, publications, grant writing, reviewing journals or textbooks, attending conferences, providing leadership on research projects etc. Sustain a productive program of scholarly activity appropriate to an undergraduate teaching department, which contributes to the faculty member’s professional growth, and to Department quality and standing. This includes activities in the discipline such as basic and applied research, high quality publications and presentations, grant writing and funded projects, professional consulting, and the use of scholarship to enhance the curriculum and provide research and internship opportunities for students. Activities recognized as scholarship must involve peer evaluation and dissemination Perform service duties contributing to the self-governance and improvement of the Department, the College, the University, and professional societies within the discipline. Engage in activities such as student recruitment, formal and informal student advising, and alumni and community relations. Participate in assigned and selected campus meetings, University, college and department committees, University functions, and other service duties as assigned. Salary Range $56,200 to $69,000 Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications -Ph.D. in mathematics -Ability and commitment to contribute to departmental current curricular needs and projects, including teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students in the major, majors’ courses, and service courses in mathematics. -Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate, educate and mentor students from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds similar to that of Colorado State University Pueblo. Preferred Qualifications -Background, activity and interest in statistics or applied mathematics. -Teaching experience and evidence of high-quality teaching in undergraduate Mathematics courses All interested candidates must apply through the online application system.
