Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track position starting August 2025, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field at the time of appointment. Candidates for this position should have a strong research record in Mathematics or Computer Science and should have expertise in AI or data science. Candidates for this position should also demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and an interest in the design of interdisciplinary courses or degree programs. For information about requirements for each faculty rank, please see the University of Georgia Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure and the Department of Mathematics Criteria for Tenure and Promotion. To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire. Candidates for this position should have a research program which is connected to AI or mathematical data science, broadly interpreted.
