JOB POSTING – POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
Area of Research: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics
Description of duties:
Conducting mathematical research, teaching, and contributing to the life of the department. Research may be carried out in collaboration with a faculty supervisor or other department members or independently.
Salary: $50,000 minimum full time annual salary. Salary is to be commensurate with qualifications and experience as well as availability of funds. The positions are full-time, unless negotiated and approved by the supervisor. Postdoctoral fellows teach the equivalent of 2 courses per year, and the associated teaching stipend will bring the total compensation to at least $68,000 in the first year of the appointment.
Please note that should the minimum rates stipulated in the collective agreement be higher than rates stated in this posting, the minimum rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Required qualifications:
These positions are for mathematicians with fresh or recent PhDs and combine research with teaching. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a PhD before the start date of the position.
They should show significant promise in research and demonstrate evidence of strength in teaching.

The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro- rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and professional development and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE
3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
