Position Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor, beginning in Fall 2025. Priority will be given to candidates in broadly understood applied mathematics including numerical analysis, scientific computing, quantum computing, optimization, probability, machine learning, and the mathematical foundation of data science. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research and teaching. To be considered at the associate professor level, the candidate must have a proven record of external funding. Current research in the department includes algebra, analysis, combinatorics, geometry/topology, applied and computational mathematics, probability, and statistics. Applications from underrepresented groups and minorities are especially welcome.

Binghamton University is a highly ranked R1 public institution engaged in outstanding research and education. Opportunities for collaborative research are provided through research groups such as various Organized Research Centers and six Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (in Data Science, Health Sciences, Smart Energy, etc.)

The minimal degree qualification for this position is a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or the equivalent) in mathematical sciences or a closely related field. To start the application process:
