Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position(s) with possible extension to a third year, subject to availability of funding.  The expected start date is August 16, 2025, but an earlier starting date is possible.  This opening is in Control Theory and/or Quantum Physics aligning with the research interests of Prof. Domenico D'Alessandro.  This includes geometric optimal control, applications of control theory to quantum systems, lie theory dynamical analysis of quantum systems, quantum information with emphasis with quantum error correction, Lie algebraic and representation theory methods in quantum information.  The position involves no teaching responsibility but teaching one or two courses a year can be arranged based on individual interests.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Mathematics or related field. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research Experience in Quantum Physics and/or Control Theory.
