Le Département de mathématiques de l’UQAM annonce l’ouverture d’un poste de professeur régulier (menant à la permanence) en apprentissage statistique et science des données en santé – à tout niveau – à partir du 1er juin 2025. Tous les domaines d’expertise en statistique sont admissibles, mais une spécialisation liée à l’apprentissage statistique et/ou la statistique computationnelle appliqués au domaine de la santé est considérée comme un atout. La personne candidate sera appelée à enseigner aux trois cycles à des étudiants aux profils variés, et à s’impliquer dans le développement de programmes d’études en statistique et science des données. De plus, elle aura aussi à développer et maintenir un programme de recherche original et à diriger des étudiant.e.s des cycles supérieurs et des stagiaires de premier cycle.

EXIGENCES

• Doctorat en statistique/biostatistique, ou en mathématiques/informatique avec une grande expertise en statistique
• Excellent dossier de recherche
• Capacité à développer un programme de recherche original et à obtenir des fonds de recherche des organismes subventionnaires
• Intérêt démontré pour l'enseignement
• Maîtrise du français parlé et écrit

ATOUTS

• Expertise dans un ou plusieurs des domaines suivants : apprentissage statistique/machine, biostatistique, statistique computationnelle, optimisation, traitement de données volumineuses, forage/fouille de données
• Capacité à s’intégrer aux thématiques de recherche du Centre de recherche facultaire en statistique et science des données STATQAM.

The Department of Mathematics at UQAM announces an opening for a regular (tenure-track) faculty position in Statistical Learning and Health Data Science – at any level – starting June 1, 2025. All areas of statistical expertise are eligible, but a specialization related to statistical learning and/or computational statistics applied to health sciences is considered an asset. The candidate will be required to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels to students with varied academic backgrounds, and to be involved in the development of statistical and data science curricula. In addition, they will be expected to develop and maintain an original research program and to supervise graduate students and undergraduate trainees.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ph.D. in statistics/biostatistics, or mathematics/computer science with extensive expertise in statistics
• Excellent research record
• Ability to develop an original research program in order to obtain funding from major granting agencies
• Demonstrated interest in teaching
• Functional command of spoken and written French

STRENGTHS

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: statistical/machine learning, biostatistics, computational statistics, optimization, big data processing, drilling/data mining
• Capacity to integrate with the research themes of the Centre de recherche facultaire en statistique et science des données STATQAM.
