Position Description:

 The Department of Mathematics at University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks an exceptional instructor to support early-career faculty and postdocs within the department. This position will be responsible for providing instructional support, guidance and direction to postdocs and short-term instructional staff, as well as assisting our early-career faculty acclimate to the instructional expectations of the university and department standards. The position will serve as a resource for all department instructors to enhance and improve the quality of undergraduate instructional standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing instructional supervision and/or mentoring.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Department of Mathematics, the candidate is expected to participate in undergraduate instructional development activities, meet regularly with department leadership, and contribute to department-wide goals for instructional outcomes. Contributions to the department are a critical component of the position as we work together to develop and enhance the best practices for supporting our instructors and faculty.

  Teaching:

     - This position is responsible for teaching 3 undergraduate courses per year as assigned by the Associate Chair.

   Instructional Support:

     - Serve as a resource and provide instructional support to the department for undergraduate courses beyond calculus. Provide orientation and training on systems, assist with course setup, and advise on best practices and instructional tools throughout the year.

     - Observe the teaching performance of all first and second year instructors (faculty, postdoc, and short term staff) that are assigned undergraduate courses during Fall and Spring semesters. This includes a class visit and providing feedback and suggestions for improvement if needed. Prepare and submit written reports to the Associate Chair.

     - Serve on committees as assigned by the Department Chair to enhance the undergraduate instructional mission.
