Call for Applications: PIMS Co-Director, Programs
Applications are invited for the position of Co-Director, Programs of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), with a preferred starting date of September 1, 2025. PIMS is a leading consortium of mathematical scientists from:

PIMS is supported by these universities, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Simons Foundation.
Responsibilities
The Co-Director, Programs will collaborate with the PIMS Director, the Co-Director, Industry, the PIMS Central Team, and stakeholders from across the PIMS network to promote and advance the mathematical sciences.
The position entails overseeing strategic and operational portfolios, including
- Management of key PIMS initiatives such as Thematic Summers, exchange programs, summer schools.
- Guiding research proposal development for Collaborative Research Groups (CRGs) and PIMS Research Networks (PRNs)
- Pursuing partnerships and agreements with mathematical science institutes (with a focus on North and Latin America)
- Identify funding opportunities for thematic and international research activities.
Additional responsibilities include chairing the PIMS Postdoctoral Committee, managing network-wide research activities, and supporting PIMS's commitments to EDI and Indigenous Engagement. A successful candidate would normally be a regular faculty member at a PIMS university during the time of their appointment, but qualified adjunct or emeritus professors who are capable and qualified will also be considered.
Applicants must have an exceptional record of accomplishment in the mathematical sciences (including mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related fields) and possess expertise and skills aligned with the scientific and educational mandate of PIMS, as detailed on the PIMS website. Candidates should also demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
