Position Description:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or data science; and have a strong commitment to quality teaching, research, and academic service. The successful applicant must hold the equivalent of an M.S. in mathematics or statistics.

Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics or statistics, consistent with the needs of the department, participating in curriculum development, advising students, performing research in an area of interest to the field, and providing service to the department, college, the university, and the profession. SFA’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics anticipates a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in Fall 2025. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers an undergraduate major in mathematics, minors in mathematics and applied statistics, and concentrations in data science, actuarial studies, and JacksTeach (SFA's STEM teacher preparation program). At the graduate level, our department offers a master's degree in mathematical sciences with concentrations in mathematics and statistics.
