Fellowship Description:
Fellowship Description
The Erdős Center of the Rényi Institute in Budapest, Hungary, invites applications for postdoctoral positions in the fields of modern harmonic analysis, number theory, and arithmetic and geometric Ramsey theory in conjunction with the upcoming Simons Semester in New Directions in Modern Harmonic Analysis and Applications, taking place from January to June 2026.The review process starts April 1, 2025; applications arriving after this date will also receive consideration.
Position Types Available:
- 6-Month Postdoc Positions: Start date in January 2026 (start date is flexible).
- 1-Year Postdoc Positions: Start date in September 2025 (start date is flexible).
All positions come with no teaching duties. Candidates are not required to speak Hungarian. If you have any questions regarding this position, please contact: erdos.harmonic.positions@renyi.hu
Semester Focus
The semester will emphasize the intersections between modern harmonic analysis and its applications in number theory and Ramsey theory. Recent advances in these fields have resolved longstanding conjectures and will drive new interactions through the exploration of discrete, classical, and higher-order Fourier analysis methods. Candidates working in areas related to the program are encouraged to apply.
Major Activities
During the semester, two major activities will be hosted, each spanning two weeks:
- A school and a workshop focusing on Discrete Harmonic Analysis and Analytic Number Theory.
- A school and a workshop dedicated to Harmonic Analysis and Applications to Ramsey Theory.
Application Method and Materials
Interested candidates should send their applications via email to erdos.harmonic.positions@renyi.hu . Applications should include:
- A cover letter (please indicate the position and term you wish to apply for)
- A CV
- A list of publications
- A statement of purpose (1-2 pages on past research, 1-2 pages on future research, and at least one paragraph outlining the relevance of the semester’s focus to the candidate’s research)
- At least two letters of recommendation, to be sent directly by the recommenders to erdos.harmonic.positions@renyi.hu .
We look forward to receiving your applications!
We are not accepting applications for this job through MathJobs.Org right now. Please see the job description above on how to apply.
