to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for a limited period of three years. The place of work will be Ingolstadt. Provided that the requirements are met, remuneration in the private-law employment relationship will be according to pay grade E 13 TV-L. 

The successful candidate will be working on an interdisciplinary research project in the “SPP 2322 Soil systems” program (https://soilsystems.net/) at the intersection of mathematical modeling, numerical analysis and simulation. The project will be modeling and investigating carbon and energy flows in soils. Existing models of the working group are based on cellular automata and differential equations. Basic knowledge of differential equations, programming and an interest in collaborating with soil physicists or soil chemists, among others, is expected.

 Your profile 

You hold an excellent degree in applied mathematics or a related field. You have a strong ability to work cooperatively and have very good written and spoken English language skills. We expect flexibility and a willingness to travel, for example to project meetings, conferences and workshops in Germany and abroad. You are expected to acquire good German language proficiency within the first two years of the appointment.
