Bilkent University Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to start in September. The appointment will be for one or two years upon mutual consent.
Successful candidates are required to have a strong research potential, preferably in one of the research areas of the department. The Department of Mathematics has broad research strengths across both pure and applied mathematics, with particularly strong activity in algebra, geometry, and analysis. Core areas include algebraic geometry, commutative algebra, number theory, group theory, topology, functional and operator analysis, harmonic analysis, and complex analysis. The department also maintains strong research activity in partial and ordinary differential equations, dynamical systems, and systems and control theory, alongside active work in mathematical physics, including quantum theory and statistical mechanics. Additional research areas span applied and interdisciplinary mathematics, including optimization and operations research, probability and stochastic processes, combinatorics, and applications to economics, biology, and information theory. Bilkent is a non-profit foundation university located at western suburbs of Ankara, the capital of Turkiye, with a beautiful campus and an international faculty. The language of teaching is English. The academic year consists of two semesters and the usual course load is two courses per semester.
