Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at Tufts University invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellow in applied and computational mathematics to start September 1, 2025. Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field by the start of the position and have a strong record of or exceptional promise for research.

The fellow will work closely with Prof. Elizabeth Newman. Successful candidates will have research interests in one or more of the following subfields: scientific machine learning, optimization, deep learning, uncertainty quantification, (Bayesian) inverse problems, reduced order modeling, high-performance computing, or other related fields. The position carries a maximum of a two-course-per-year teaching load. Research travel will be supported. The position will last two years, with the possibility of a third year.
