Position Description:

The School of Mathematical Sciences of Hebei Normal University invites applications for non-tenure-track faculty positions of an assistant professor, associate professor or professor.

Applicants should have, or be about to complete, a Ph.D. in mathematics.

The possible areas of expertise of an applicant are pure, applied and computational mathematics, and statistics.

Teaching load is at most 2 courses per semester.

The successful candidate will be required:

- to conduct active research;

- to regularly publish papers (at least one paper per year in average) in the journals from the lists given by the Chinese Mathematical Society, see the following link:

- to present research at conferences and seminars;

- to apply for an external funding from National Natural Science Foundation of China;

- to advise students and attract them to working on scientific problems with a focus on further publications in the journals from the lists given by the Chinese Mathematical Society (see the link above).

The offered position and salary depend on qualifications of the applicant. One of the main criteria of the evaluation of an application is how many papers the applicant has published in the journals from the lists given by the Chinese Mathematical Society (see the link above).

The initial contract could be for at most three years. If the performance of the successful candidate is satisfactory, further extensions of the initial contract are possible (usually, at most five years each).

We also offer free accommodation in convenient apartments for teachers, close to the south gate of the campus (2 minutes by foot).

Finally, Hebei Normal University and the School of Mathematical Sciences are able to support some academic exchanges upon request.

Hebei Normal University was founded in 1902. The mission of Hebei Normal University is to carry out international education and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation. The School of Mathematical Sciences of Hebei Normal University is well known across China as traditionally strong in combinatorics, operator theory and operator algebra, and computational mathematics. The goal posed by the School of Mathematical Sciences is to build an active and strong international mathematical center. Currently, the School of Mathematical Sciences has 121 faculties, including 5 foreign faculties.
