Position Description

The Quantum Geometry research group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Mathematical Physics and Geometry

m/f/d, 100%, initially for 2 years with the possibility of extension.

The position is based within the research group on Quantum Geometry led by Prof. Murad Alim at the TUM Department of Mathematics. Research interests in this group include the geometry of quantum field and string theories, complex algebraic geometry, representation theory and number theory. More information on the group can be found at: https://muradalim.org/

Candidates are required to have a PhD in mathematics or theoretical physics, ideally in an area within enumerative algebraic geometry, mirror symmetry, modular forms, representation theory, resurgence, or the geometry of quantum field and string theories. The candidate should have an excellent publication record commensurate to his/her experience. In addition, the successful candidate is highly motivated and has the ability to work both independently as well as in a team. Her/his activities will include conducting research with other group members and external collaborators, teaching, and participating in other activities of the group. Solid English skills, both oral and in writing, are expected. Proficiency in German is not required.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a vibrant, interdisciplinary and international research environment on the Garching Campus of the TUM, with several groups working in related areas, notably in algebraic geometry, representation theory and high energy physics.
