2025-2026 Visiting Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics Full Time Antioch College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Science Division for the 2025-2026 academic year, with a desired start date of 1 August 2025. Renewal for a second year is possible based on staffing needs. Successful candidates will provide evidence of excellence in teaching math and quantitative courses to undergraduates and an enthusiasm for mentoring students in a liberal arts environment. We seek a candidate who is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students within a collaborative, interdisciplinary, student-centered academic community. With small student-teacher, Antioch College provides a unique opportunity to engage in innovative, experiential teaching that blends theory with practice that supports Antioch’s core values of social justice, sustainability, and experiential learning. We seek a colleague with a desire to mentor interdisciplinary undergraduate research who can support students at a variety of stages, including mandatory senior capstone research projects. Antioch College is on the quarter system (Fall, Winter, Spring), and faculty teach two courses per term (typically, 24 credits per year in a 2:2:2 course load). Faculty teach within areas of expertise as well as contribute to a distinctive General Education curriculum. Key duties include: Teach each of the courses as follows : MATH 102 Explorations in Mathematics; MATH 103 College Algebra for the Sciences; MATH 105 Introduction to Statistics, and MATH 205 Intermediate Statistics, along with a corequisite developmental mathematics support section for each 100-level MATH course (MATH 090, 2 credits). Note that Statistics courses must use RStudio or Python. Advise and mentor students, helping them navigate their academic and career pathways; Work with the Office of Academic Affairs to support mathematics placement testing for all incoming students; Engage in campus and faculty life through participation in community governance and campus initiatives. Qualifications Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related Applied Science field with at least 18 credit hours in Mathematics, with the career goal of teaching at a 4-year college. Ph.D. preferred at time of hire, but advanced ABD candidates may also be considered. Demonstrated ability to teach introductory and intermediate mathematics courses, including Statistics, College Algebra, and Mathematics for the Liberal Arts. Commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching, with an ability to encourage and support students with diverse mathematical backgrounds. Passion for mentoring undergraduate students and fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Interest in interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary collaboration and innovative pedagogical approaches.
