Position Description

In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics the following position is to be filled as soon as possible as a 

Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/d) 
(Salary level according to 14 TV-L) 

with 100 % of the regular working hours. This is a fixed-term position to be filled for a period of generally 3 years, subject to the provisions of the Wissenschaftszeitgesetz (WissZeitVG, German Act on Fixed-Term Research Employment Contracts for Academic Staff). 
An extension for further 2 years is possible within the time limits of the WissZeitVG and in this case is planned after a positive interim evaluation. The junior research group will be equipped with a position for a research assistant (13 TV-L). The new Junior Research Group Leader is expected, in consultation with the dean, to establish an independent research group in particular to supervise research students, theses and doctoral dissertation, acquire research funding and offer your own courses (4 SWS) in the Department of Mathematics including mathematics classes for students of other Departments. In addition to, you have your own personnel and material resources for your junior research group. At the beginning of the employment, courses can be offered in English as well as German. It is expected that the candidate will be able to teach in both languages after a transition period. For the advertised position, we are looking for a person who is outstandingly qualified in a current field of algebra, analysis or geometry and whose research profile would strengthen and complement the CRC TRR 358 ‘Integral Structures in Geometry and Representation Theory’ in the anticipated second funding period (January 01st, 2027 – December 31st, 2030).
 In particular, participation as Principal Investigator in one or more subprojects of the CRC 358 is expected. Participation in the academic self-administration of the Department of Mathematics is also expected. Recruitment requirements: 
• Scientific university degree 
• PhD in mathematics (usually no more than 5 years ago) 
• Special academic achievements after the PhD as well as verifiable experience in teaching
