Call for proposals
The NOMIS Foundation and the Institute of Science and
Technology Austria (ISTA) have launched an interdisciplinary
basic research program for exceptional postdoctoral scientists.
The NOMIS-ISTA Fellowship Program provides postdocs with the freedom to work on big unanswered
questions and high-risk research at the intersection of two or more
scientific disciplines. ISTA offers an enabling and collaborative environment,
with dedicated mentorship from world-class, established scientists.

Proposals are invited in the following fields: Biology;
Neuroscience; Physics; Chemistry; Computer Science; Data Science; Mathematics;
Earth Science; Astro sciences; and related disciplines
Application deadline:
September 18 (14:00 CEST)
Salary: three-year
fully funded position (min. salary 75,586 EUR (gross) annually)

ISTA is committed to equality and diversity.
Requirements:
- At the time of recruitment (i.e. within 8 months of the
application deadline), applicants must have been awarded their PhD and
preferably have acquired their first postdoctoral experience and/or interdisciplinary
training. However, the NOMIS Fellowship Selection Panel will also consider exceptionally
promising candidates who fall outside the above criteria.
Applicants will ideally have initial postdoctoral (or
significant interdisciplinary) experience. However, the NOMIS selection panel
will consider all outstanding candidates.
- Following the initial evaluation round, top-ranked
candidates must be available for a remote interview in November 2025.
- If successful, the NOMIS Fellowship must commence within
six months of notification.
