Position Description

Postdoctoral position in quantifying neurovascular coupling using simultaneous EEG/fNIRS

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Boston University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate starting on or after September 1, 2025. This is a 2-year appointment, which is non-renewable, and is a 12-month full-time position.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team investigating the mechanisms underlying neurovascular coupling and its modulation by attention and neuromodulation. The primary responsibilities will include processing, analyzing, and modeling multimodal neuroimaging data, specifically simultaneous EEG and fNIRS recordings. The postdoctoral associate will develop and apply advanced signal processing and statistical techniques to quantify the relationships between neural and hemodynamic signals, and participate in the interpretation and dissemination of results. In addition to hands-on data analysis, the position offers opportunities for methodological innovation and close collaboration with neuroscientists, statisticians, and clinical researchers.

Boston University offers competitive salaries, and postdoctoral associates are eligible to receive the same employment benefits as faculty and staff. A full list of the benefits programs offered is available on the BU HR website. Postdoctoral associates in Mathematics and Statistics have office space in the new Center for Computing & Data Sciences, Boston’s largest green building (at 19 stories) and winner of the 2023 World Architecture Competition’s Education Category for its interior design.

Successful candidates should have:

- A PhD in computational neuroscience or a related field, completed before the appointment begins

- Experience analyzing EEG and/or fNIRS data
