Position Description

The University of Bonn is an international research university with a wide education and research profile. The Hausdorff Center for Mathematics (HCM) at the University of Bonn and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn (MPIM) invite applications of outstanding mathematicians for a

W2 Professorship (Bonn Junior Fellow / Max Planck Research Group Leader)

 

as a joint hiring. This is a temporary position for a period of 5 years and is based on a cooperation of HCM and MPIM according to the Jülicher Modell.

The Max Planck Research Group

The remuneration of the Group Leaders is based on remuneration group W2 of the Federal Civil Service Remuneration Act [Bundesbesoldungsgesetz - BBesG].

The professorship

The professorship intends to encourage independent research by outstanding junior researchers. Bonn Junior Fellows also participate in the additional resources of the Hausdorff Center. They will contribute to our advanced teaching program. German language skills are not
required.

The candidate

We are looking for an early career researcher holding a doctoral degree who is starting to develop his/her own research agenda. Suitable candidates should have already demonstrated scientific independence with relevant publications. Candidates should have some international research experience.

Research focus

 

We seek candidates who fit into the broad spectrum of the Cluster of Excellence and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn and complement the existing expertise.

 

The general conditions of employment are according to § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen).
