Position Description

The Mathematics Department at North Carolina State University invites applications for multiple two-year postdoctoral positions beginning as early as Spring 2026, with the option to postpone the start date to Fall 2026. The position is renewable for a third year, conditional on satisfactory progress and availability of funding. We are seeking exceptionally well-qualified individuals with research interests in Numerical Methods for Nonlinear PDEs .  The postdoc will focus on developing numerical methods and computational tools for nonlinear time-dependent systems of conservation and balance laws, multiscale hyperbolic and kinetic equations, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning. 

Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics before the start date and must demonstrate research excellence, strong oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to effective teaching. In addition to research, the postdoctoral researcher’s responsibility will include teaching during the academic year. The number of courses will depend on the budget situation and will be negotiated at the time of hiring.
