The program of Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences, at the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia (https://urosario.edu.co/departamento-macc) is seeking to fill a position for a full-time tenure-track professor in Statistics or Applied Mathematics. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Mathematics and they should demonstrate a strong record of research and teaching (preferably in areas such as machine learning, deep learning, or AI). As such, strong computer skills and proficiency in statistical software and programming tools are essential. Postdoctoral experience, interdisciplinary research, project management, teaching at the university level, collaborative work, student mentoring, and the ability to foster productive student–faculty interactions are highly valued. A demonstrated ability to obtain extramural research funding is also highly desirable. Applications from women are especially encouraged. The successful candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activities, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and set-up a line or research group with multidisciplinary research projects. It is also anticipated that the candidate will establish collaborations with professors and students from the programs inside the School of Sciences and Engineering, and with other academic units at Universidad del Rosario. The position involves about 40% research, 20% academic service and 40% teaching (about two/three courses per semester). The application must be written in English and include: 1) a detailed CV with a complete list of publications and funding awarded (5 pages); 2) copies of three selected papers; 3) a Research Statement summarizing the candidate’s experience, interests and an outline of the research plan that can be potentially developed at Universidad del Rosario (up to 3 pages); 4) a short video (five minutes maximum, MP4 format) describing and explaining your teaching experience and philosophy, as well as pedagogic strategies; and 5) three recommendation letters, with one of them addressing the candidate’s teaching capabilities. Monthly salary is competitive for both Colombian and international standards and will be determined by a university-wide point system, based on research and teaching experience. Spanish native speakers must provide a proof of language proficiency at level B2 – English, German, French, Portuguese, or Italian are valid. Native speakers who have obtained their BSc, MSc or PhD in countries that speak any of those languages are exempt. Non-native speakers are encouraged to apply, and if selected, they must provide a proof of Spanish language proficiency at level B2 (DELE exam) before starting. Non-native Spanish speakers who have obtained the BSc, MSc or PhD in Spanish speaking countries are exempt from this exam. The ideal starting date is January 2026.
