Position Description
The Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University seeks to hire one tenure-stream Assistant Professor with a start date of July 1, 2026. The teaching load for this position is one course per semester. The department has 23 tenure-stream and 3 teaching-stream faculty members. We have a departmental postdoctoral program, which funds 5 postdoctoral fellows at any given time, an excellent graduate program, and a strong undergraduate culture. Department members frequently take advantage of Brown's interdisciplinary culture via collaborations with many other Brown units including Biology and Biomedicine, Brain Sciences & Neuroscience, Cognitive Linguistic and Psychological Sciences, Computational Biology, Engineering, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Public Health. We are also a founding partner of Brown’s Data Science Initiative and participate in the NSF-funded Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree by the start of the position and have a strong record of or exceptional promise for research and a commitment to effective teaching.
