2025-2026 Advertisement for a Tenure-Track Position in Statistics

The Mathematics & Statistics Department at Bucknell University invites applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position in statistics to begin August 1, 2026. Dedicated teacher-scholars are encouraged to apply. Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field, a strong commitment to teaching, and a high potential for research. We seek a colleague who will contribute to the department’s focus on inclusivity and its liberal arts mission and we welcome candidates who demonstrate excellence in reflective multicultural and inclusive teaching practices and who display a strong commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinarity. The successful candidate will join a team of five other statisticians teaching a variety of statistics courses while maintaining an active research program. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with the Dominguez Center for Data Science and its inaugural director, Kelly McConville.

Applications include a cover letter, curriculum vita, graduate transcripts (unofficial copies accepted), a teaching statement, and a research statement. We ask that you address your interest in working at a primarily undergraduate institution in your cover letter and/or teaching statement. Your teaching letter should include how your experiences, knowledge, skills, and/or past accomplishments will contribute to equitable and inclusive teaching, broadly defined as including classroom instruction, advising, mentoring, and other educational experiences. Any discussion of undergraduate research should appear in the research statement. More information and suggestions for these documents can be found here. Please submit these and all other supporting materials electronically at mathjobs.org. Please arrange for three letters of recommendation (at least one of which addresses teaching beyond what may be found in student evaluations) to be uploaded at mathjobs.org. Review of applications will begin no later than October 3, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled.
