The Department of Mathematics at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time residential postdoctoral appointment with start date July 1, 2026, although earlier start dates are possible. The postdoctoral fellow will join a research team led by Assistant Professor Nianqiao (Phyllis) Ju. Dr. Ju’s lab focuses on research in statistical data privacy, computational statistics, and statistical machine learning. A main goal of this project is to develop scalable and privacy-preserving Bayesian computational algorithms. The position is intended for two to three years, with an initial one-year appointment renewable contingent upon performance and subject to budgetary approval. 

Eligibility requires completion of the Ph.D. in statistics, data science, mathematical sciences, computer science, or a closely related field before the start date. We seek qualified candidates with strong analytical, computational, and communication skills. Applicants should have a solid background in mathematical statistics and statistical machine learning. Programming expertise in R/Python/MATLAB is essential, and some knowledge of C/C++ will be preferred. Candidates with demonstrated accomplishment in academic research, as can be judged from published papers or preprints, will be given priority. Successful applicants are expected to be no more than 3 years past their doctorate. 

The post-doctoral appointee may have the opportunity to teach one or two ten-week courses; contingent on course availability in the Mathematics Department and teaching qualifications. Salary will be adjusted accordingly and set by the Associate Dean for Sciences.
