Position Description
Endowed Chair Professor in Applied and Computational Mathematics and StatisticsThe Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS) in the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame is accepting applications for one or more positions as an endowed chair professor which are expected to be filled this year. A successful candidate will be an internationally recognized scholar in an area of applied and computational mathematics and statistics with an outstanding record of success. Candidates must have a research program that is driving breakthroughs and advances in their area, and should be a leader in furthering the research, teaching, and service missions of ACMS and the University of Notre Dame.
ACMS includes research groups in applied mathematics, statistics, and computational science involving various multi-disciplinary collaborations. ACMS offers a Bachelor of Science, a doctoral degree, a research master’s degree, and a professional master’s degree. Position duties include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and engaging in service. The teaching load in ACMS is competitive and the position is expected to begin in August 2026.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree conferred in applied mathematics, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field together with a distinguished record of research, teaching, and service that qualifies for appointment in an endowed professorship at the rank of full professor with tenure.
