Position Description

Lafayette College Department of Mathematical Sciences Assistant Professor of Mathematics The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Lafayette College in Easton, PA invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning July 2026. The department’s teaching mission is to provide a broad spectrum of courses across the undergraduate mathematics curriculum, including theoretical and applied mathematics, as well as statistics. Applicants should have the potential to make significant contributions to this mission. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or be in the final stages of attaining one. Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and a strong, active research program. Successful candidates will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to contribute to the life of a vigorous mathematics program on a small, exclusively undergraduate campus, as well as the ability to contribute to Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applied, interdisciplinary, and theoretical research are equally valued. Lafayette’s mathematics department has an outstanding record of leadership in undergraduate research, and candidates should have an interest in mentoring student projects. The normal teaching load for tenure-track faculty members is four courses for the first year, and five per year thereafter. The college provides a paid pre-tenure research leave, mentoring, and research support. Applications should be submitted to MathJobs.
