Position Description

The Department of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations Research at Rice University in Houston, Texas, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position as part of the NSF-funded Research Training Group, “RTG: Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing.” (https://rtg-nasc.rice.edu/

The successful candidate will contribute to the research group of Beatrice Riviere, COMP-M (https://compm.rice.edu). 

Backgrounds in one of the following research areas are preferred: 
  • high-order numerical methods for partial differential equations (PDEs) 
  • structure-preserving and data-driven reduced order modeling 
  • scientific machine learning 
In addition to research, the postdoctoral researcher will engage in mentoring and outreach activities and will be expected to teach one course per semester (e.g., a total of two courses per year). The appointment will begin on July 1, 2026, and will be for two years, with the possibility of one additional year contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance. 

Eligibility: Candidates should be US citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, and they must have received a PhD in computational and applied mathematics, engineering, or a related subject prior to the start of the appointment.
