Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at Tulane University invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to work in the research group of Prof. Tommaso Buvoli (https://tommasobuvoli.com/). 

Research topics include scientific computing, numerical analysis, and scientific machine learning. The postdoc will also teach two mathematics courses per year (1 per semester). 
The appointment is a one-year position with a possibility for an annual renewal of up to 3 years in total. 
The position may start as early as July 1, 2026, with later start dates also possible.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or a related field. 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience deriving and analyzing numerical methods and/or machine learning methods for scientific computing.
  • A strong computational background and experience with languages and frameworks such as Matlab, Python, NumPy/SciPy, Pytorch/TensorFlow/Jax.
