The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the level of Assistant Professor. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in the areas of algebraic geometry, homotopy theory, foundations, functional analysis, and number theory, as well as candidates with expertise that involves interdisciplinary collaboration between mathematics and computer science or the mathematics of quantum physics. Outstanding applicants from any research area may be considered. This position will start in the Fall 2026 semester (August 2026). The Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder has faculty with a broad range of research interests, including Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Combinatorics, Foundations of Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Partial Differential Equations, Number Theory, Noncommutative Geometry, Operator Algebras, Probability, and Topology. We presently have twenty-three tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as eleven postdoctoral fellows and visitors. The Department of Mathematics has over fifty graduate students and serves well over five hundred undergraduate majors and minors. The Department of Mathematics is strongly committed to the University of Colorado’s mission for research and teaching excellence, and hosts a variety of programs aimed at increasing student success. Key responsibilities: teach three, one-semester courses in undergraduate or graduate mathematics during each academic year, carry out mathematical research at a high level, and carry out service duties, such as one or two committee memberships, suitable to the assistant professor junior appointment. Supervise graduate dissertations and contribute to the Department’s undergraduate research opportunities. Minimum qualifications: A PhD in mathematics or related fields. Proof of PhD degree needs to be submitted to the Office of Faculty Affairs no later than 30 days prior to the start date of their appointment.
