Position Description
Assistant Professor in Mathematics
Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University (Prague) invites applications for an assistant professor position (tenure-track). First contract is for 3 years, it can be prolonged after an evaluation up to 9 years. After the habilitation, a permanent position will be offered.
We aim to hire an outstanding, internationally recognized researcher with excellent track record in mathematics (with a reasonable chance to receive international grant awards such as ERC grants).
Requirements:
No knowledge of the Czech language is necessary. However, basic communication in Czech language after four years period is expected.
A competitive salary is guaranteed for two years. After that, the selected candidate is expected to obtain a grant (eg, from ERC and/or Czech Science Foundation) supporting a part of the salary.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University is the leading institution in mathematics in
Czechia, with highly motivated and well educated students in our mathematics programs. The School of
Mathematics has about 110 academic positions, as well as >30 international postdocs, covering most of the major
areas of mathematics. We offer an open minded environment, with outstanding conditions for independent
