 About the opportunity 
 Opportunity for an Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Optimisation Theory to join The School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney, one of the largest mathematical sciences schools in Australia.

 As the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Optimisation Theory you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning design, delivery, and evaluation while continuing to build your research contribution, expertise and impact. You will also benefit from our supportive community of world-class mathematicians and statisticians. 

 Your key responsibilities will be to: 
  • contribute to the development, implementation, and promotion of innovative mathematical education programs within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, 
  •  conduct high-quality research in optimisation theory and related areas 
  • teach graduate and undergraduate courses in mathematics for students from different disciplinary backgrounds 
  • supervise and coordinate graduate and undergraduate students 
  • attract external funding and connect with partners. 
 About you

  • a PhD or equivalent doctorate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field 
  • a strong publication record in Optimisation Theory 
  • evidence of independent research, compatible with the standards at The University of Sydney 
  • evidence of ability, versatility, and commitment to excellence in teaching 
  • a developing knowledge of the key strategic issues in mathematics and the higher education sector 
  • additional requirement for Senior Lecturer position is experience of supervising students.
