Position Description

AI4Science Visiting Assistant Professor Position 

The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence for Science for Fall 2026. The position consists of an annually renewable three-year research and teaching appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematics and the position includes research funding. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include developing an international level research program aligned with the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center; collaborating across the university in research and grant efforts; teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in School of Math; and actively participating in the operation of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications 
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications for these positions are: 

 (1) a PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences, granted not more than 5 years prior the start of the appointment; (2) potential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech; (3) research interests complementary to existing strengths in the School of Mathematics and the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center; (4) strong potential for external funding; (5) ability for teaching in the School of Mathematics, scholarship, and/or service that contributes to the Institute’s Student Success Criteria: The ability to teach and mentor a diverse student body, and the ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students. Consistent with these priorities, candidates with a strong interest in the mathematical foundations of AI4Science will be considered in all areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Statistics

An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment, and a background check must be completed prior to beginning employment.
