The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Dynamical Systems, beginning as early as Spring 2026 with the option to postpone the start date to Fall 2026. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible renewal for a third year. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Christian Wolf. Strong applicants from all areas of Dynamical Systems are encouraged to apply; however, the greatest interest is for applicants with interest in one or more of the following topics: complex dynamics, computability in dynamical systems, smooth ergodic theory, symbolic dynamics, thermodynamic formalism, and applications to mathematical biology. Mississippi State University is a Land-Grant University and is designated as a “Very High Research Spending and Doctorate Production” Research 1 university by the Carnegie Foundation. The Department offers a Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Sciences with concentrations in both mathematics and statistics and is highly research oriented. Requirements for a postdoctoral position include a doctoral degree at the start date of the position with a preference for recent PhDs, and an interest in pursuing original research. The position comes with a 1+1 teaching load (6 credits per year). Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
