Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoc position (100% TVL) in the Emmy-Noether Program research group of Leonard Kreutz on Variational models in Materials Science: from crystalline structures to continuum theories. The group is located within the Chair for Analysis of the Department of Mathematics, School of Computation, Information and Technology at the Technical University of Munich. The candidate shall have a PhD degree in Mathematics (or in a closely related field). A strong background in calculus of variations or applied analysis is required. Applications from candidates who are about to finish their PhD program are also welcome. Solid English skills, both oral and in writing, are expected. In addition, the successful candidate is highly self-motivated and has a good ability to work both independently as well as in a team. Her/his activities will include conducting research with other group members and external collaborators, and participating in other activities of the group. Proficiency in German is not required. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a vibrant, interdisciplinary and international research environment on the Garching Campus of the TU München, with several groups working in theoretical computer science, discrete optimization, operations research, engineering, and related fields and departments. The expected starting date is between May and October 2026. The appointment is for a maximum of three years. The position is paid according to the Federal German payment scale TV-L (100% position); the actual salary depends on academic experience, family situation, tax classification, etc. Travel support for attending conferences, workshops, etc. is of course available.
